The 2005 Hobart Winter Indoor Ultimate League was run for 7 weeks from July 27 to September 7 on Wednesday evenings, from 6:30-7:50pm, at Hobart College Sports Hall, Mt Nelson. The league co-ordinator was Joe Boyer.
Indoor league uses a netball court with the goal circle as the end zone and playing with teams of 4, minimum of 1 woman on the court at all times (preferably), defence must match offence (if possible). Each game was 20 minutes long and the stall count was 7.
Pre-registration (paid by July 11) league fees for the TUA Winter league are a little more expensive than outdoor leagues due to the cost of hiring the hall. In 2005 these fees were: $40 standard; $35 for students and those under 21; with a $30 special price for brand new ultimate players. Standard league fees (paid by the start of the league) had an additional $5 cost on these charges, and late registrations cost another $5 more (with and additional surcharge of $5 for cash payments). All prices included AFDA membership for the duration of the league.
The rules for the Hobart Indoor Ultimate Leagues are based on the WFDF rules. The League takes the position of the TD under those rules. There are a few exceptions to these rules. Check the local rules here.
Due to problems with double booking of the gym, there were 4 20 minute time slots between 6:30 and 7:50pm. Each team played two games per night. All games were played on the big court. The full schedule is not currently available for this league:

Thanks to Joe Boyer for his work as league co-ordinator! Joe's report on the finals and overview of the league follows.
Firstly, a big thanks to everyone who played in Winter League. It's historically been a league where registrations drop significantly, but it was nice to see the people make it out on some cold winter nights to play a little indoor Ultimate.
Congratulations to Rokusaburo Michiba who won the league. It was a great grand final, with some great spectacle and certainly my most fun game of the league. Bad luck to Whiskey Tango Foxtrot who went down in the final, but it didn't seem to matter too much because they won the Spirit anyway.
The spirit of the league was very close, with 6 points separating top and bottom, with only 1 point between first and second. It's great to see such a highly spirited league.
Congratulations to Tim Johnson (of WTF) for winning style in the final, just for doing a 'layout' on a hard floor. And well done to Felix Kennedy (of WTF) for winning GUTS in the final, for getting squished between Mike and Mawson when going for a skied disc.
That's it for Winter League, thanks again to everyone who played. This was my last league as director, so you can expect to be getting emails from Tim Philips about Spring League coming up, but more on that later.
League Director Joe.
