The 2005 Autumn League ran as a 4 team outdoor league on Monday evenings at the Uni Oval, Sandy Bay. This league ran from Monday May 2 6:15-8:00pm on Monday nights through until the finals on Monday June 27. Beginners and new players were most welcome.
The league co-ordinators for the Autumn League were Joe Boyer and Stew Wilde. Either Joe or Stew collected the money for league registration.
Pre-registration (paid by April 18) league fees for the TUA Autumn league were: $25 standard; $20 for students and those under 21; with a $15 special price for brand new ultimate players. Standard league fees (paid by the start of the league) had an additional $5 cost on these charges, and late registrations cost $40 (with and additional surcharge of $5 for cash payments). All prices included AFDA membership for the duration of the league.
The rules for the Hobart Outdoor Ultimate Leagues are based on the 2001 WFDF rules. The League takes the position of the TD under those rules. There are a few exceptions to these rules. Check the 2005 local rules here.

Full results (minor round only) for the Autumn League will come soon (hopefully).
Thanks to Joe for his work as league co-ordinator (with help from Stew!). The following report on the finals and overview of the league is from the League Organiser, Joe Boyer:
Well, it's over, and with some ripper games last night.
Frodos Minions managed to get over Brickroad 4-2 in the first semi- final, and Safe Huck managed to scrape through the second semi-final 4-3 against Ocean's VIII. The grand final was very close, with the teams being point for point most of the game. Frodo's Minions managed to just get the jump on Safe Huck, however, and took out the league with an impressive 8-7 victory.
Congratulations to Ocean's VIII as well, for taking out the spirit prize. They scored 112 points over the league, just nudging out Brickroad who finished with 111.
The scores from the finals went:
| Game | Field 1 (Hedge) | Field 2 (Law) |
|---|---|---|
| Semi-finals | Safe Huck (4) v Ocean's VIII (3) | Frodos Minions (4) v Brickroad (2) |
| Grand final | Frodos Minions (8) v Safe Huck (7) |
Special mentions for prizes were the following:
| Premiers | Runners-up | Spirit Winners | Style in final | Most improved | Guts in final |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frodos Minions | Safe Huck | Ocean's VIII | Al Pinkard | Omar Shebaneh | Lee Robson |
Unfortunately this time, we didn't have any person recruiting more than 1 player, so no one was eligible to win the recruiter award. But there's always Winter league.
Also at the presentation ceremony last night I handed out some questionnaires for players to fill in. I've looked through the comments and found some good suggestions and other interesting tidbits, and they should be useful. It's interesting, though, to see the number of people who suggested we get more people, and do more publicity, but didn't check the box to say that they were willing to help with administration. The TUA is a volunteer organisation, and many of us dedicate a lot of time to getting the sport to critical mass in Hobart. Suggestions are good, but helping hands are better. As for the official results of the questionnaire, I'll be waiting to receive all the forms before I tabulate the results. (If you weren't present last night and didn't get a questionnaire, I can email you an electronic copy of the form. Just ask)
It's ON!
Winter Indoor League will run for 7 weeks on Monday evenings, 6:00-7:50pm, starting Monday July 25 and running through to Monday September 5 at Hobart College Sports Hall, Mt Nelson. Beginners and new players are most welcome. The registration fees are likely to be more expensive than outdoor leagues to cover the cost of hiring the courts (twice the price of booking outdoor fields). Registration is open now and if you register and pay before July 11th (that's two weeks away) then it will be much cheaper.
Indoor league uses a netball court with the goal circle as the end zone and playing with teams of 4, minimum of 1 woman on the court at all times, defence must match offence (if possible). Each game will be 30 minutes long and the stall count is 7. Due to time restrictions, we are unable to have a "Come and try" session before this league, but the first week will be very casual, and the results won't count for the table. Plenty of training and support will be available for new players of the game, so get recruiting now!
If you've got any questions about ANYTHING to do with Ultimate, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always contactable via email and my mobile number is 0416 332 118. Thanks very much for playing in the league, guys, and I hope you enjoyed it. Awe(some au)tumn league is one of the hardest to play in, with the temperatures getting very cold. Those who turned up every week deserve to be congratulated, and hopefully we'll get a rocking turnout for Windoor league. Register Now!
Have a good break, see you in 4 weeks.
League Director Joe.
