The Tasmanian Ultimate Championships were initiated in June 2002 by Ian Warren. Ian wanted to see a continuation of the Sunday morning training sessions and hard games which started in 2001 in the lead up to Nationals 2002. All players need to be current AFDA members for insurance purposes.
There were two teams entered in the 2002 TUC. This championship was played as a series, with one round every 4th Sunday. Games were played from 8:45-10:00am with warmups, team drills and tactics starting at 8:00am. In addition to TUC games, there were fortnightly (or monthly) Nationals training sessions held occasionally on alternate Sundays from 8-10am.

In 2003 the TUC was kicked off by TUCOs Shavawn Donoghue and Jeff Dunn on Sunday June 15, with a nominal 8:30 start and a time cap of sorts at 10:00am. As in 2002, there were two teams but with a little less emphasis on warm ups and drills beforehand.
In 2004 the TUC had a nominal 8:30 start and a time cap of sorts at 10:00am. Unlike previous years the 2004 TUC series was played every 3rd Sunday.
In 2005 the TUC started early with the first round on January 16 with Shavawn Donoghue and Jeff Dunn as the TUCOs, although by the end of the year, Aaron Pinkus had taken over as TUCO and TUC was set top morph into the A-League!
In 2006, TUC saw some major changes. With Aaron Pinkus in charge again, TUC was given a makeover, including a new name, the A-League, a new time slot 3:50-5:30pm on Sundays, a new venue with the Rugby Fields and a new team, now featuring three teams, based on geographic regions: South; Central and North. A-League started off with 1 round every fortnight, with one team having a bye each round.
The rules for the TUC were basically the WFDF rules with a few minor variations.
