The Tasmanian Ultimate Championships were initiated in June 2002 by Ian Warren. Ian wanted to see a continuation of the Sunday morning training sessions and hard games which started in 2001 in the lead up to Nationals 2002.
There were two teams entered in the 2002 TUC. This championship was played as a series, with one round every 4th Sunday. Games were played from 8:45-10:00am with warmups, team drills and tactics starting at 8:00am. In addition to TUC games, there were fortnightly (or monthly) Nationals training sessions held occasionally on alternate Sundays from 8-10am.

In 2003 TUC was kicked off by TUCOs Shavawn Donoghue and Jeff Dunn on Sunday June 15, with a nominal 8:30 start and a time cap of sorts at 10:00am. As in 2002, there were two teams but with a little less emphasis on warm ups and drills beforehand.
In 2004 TUC had a nominal 8:30 start and a time cap of sorts at 10:00am. Unlike previous years the 2004 TUC series was played every 3rd Sunday.
In 2005 TUC started early with the first round on January 16 with Shavawn Donoghue and Jeff Dunn as the TUCOs, although by the end of the year, Aaron Pinkus had taken over as TUCO and TUC was set to morph into the A-League!
In 2006, TUC saw some major changes. With Aaron Pinkus in charge again, TUC was given a makeover, including a new name, the A-League, a new time slot 3:50-5:30pm on Sundays, a new venue with the Rugby Fields and a new team, now featuring three teams, based on geographic regions: South; Central and North. A-League started off with 1 round every fortnight, with one team having a bye each round.
While Monday night league morphed a little and formed two divisions, and TUC morphed into A-League, at least temporarily, eventually A-League waned too and in winter 2009 TUC was reborn as a 4 team league played on Monday evenings during the winter (while indoor leagues were being played on Sunday afternoons) under lights on the Rugby Fields. The winter 2009 season of TUC saw a combination of selections and a draft with 4 captains selecting a core of 5 players and the remaining players being allocated by TUC organiser John Kristensen with the intention to balance the teams.
In Spring 2009, TUC almost took a new format, with a proposed four week kings and queens tournament, the HIKQCup with Joe Boyer as League Organiser. This was to be held on Sunday afternoons from 4-6pm at Sandown Park, on November 1, 15, 29 and December 13. Unfortunately, there was insufficient players for this league to be viable, or for the proposed six week Summer 2010 TUC season which was expected to be held fortnightly on Sunday afternoons at Sandown Park sometime between January 10 and March 28. .
In Winter 2010, TUC has returned, using a similar format to the Spring 2009 TUC, with 4 teams.
TUC will be played fortnightly from June 14 to September 20 on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm under lights at the Rugby Fields, with League organisers Huddy Fuller and Eliza Burke-Polden.
Registration fees are as follows:
Note: starting from Summer League 2010, the TUA introduced a $5 surcharge for all cash or cheque payments made for leagues and tournaments. This is to encourage people to make payments electronically or by payment directly at into the TUA account at a MyState Financial branch, and help reduce the workload for league organisers when trying to manage the finances. Players aged 18 years or younger are exempt from this surcharge. League organisers have enough work trying to organise the league on the first few nights, so the less time handling cash and cheques, the more time they can spend making sure the league is running smoothly for you!
If you register and can't play, refunds may be available at the discretion of the League organiser and inline with the TUA refund policy, but you better have a note from your mother, or a very good excuse. More details are available on the TUA refund policy page.

The rules for the Hobart Outdoor Ultimate Leagues are based on the WFDF rules. The League Organiser takes the position of the TD under these rules. Check the latest local rules here. There may be a few exceptions to these rules and a couple of recent modifications. Look for confirmation here soon.
Registration for TUC in 2010 is through the AFDA registration system. If you have any questions on how to register or how to find a team, please email Huddy or Eliza.
