In April 2003, the Tassie Tiggers travelled to Canberra to play on the Open Division of the 26th Australian Ultimate Championships. This was the second year a Tasmanian Ultimate team travelled north of Bass Strait to play Nationals, following on from the Nationals campaigns of Choice Cuts (Open) and Vacant Air (Womens - joint with Vic) in 2002. Despite being seeded 19th out of 20 teams in the Open Division, the Tassie Tiggers won through to the top pool of 12 teams, and immediately claimed a victory over the 9th ranked (and 9th seeded) team, WArlocks from Perth. Later results saw the Tiggers eventually ranked 12th below WArlocks. The Tassie Tiggers were the only team in the Open Division to include women in their team. Last but not least, the Tiggers also won the spirit prize, repeating the 2002 spirit victories of Choice Cuts (Open, Tasmania) and Vacant Air (Women's - joint team with Tasmania and Victoria).

The Tassie Tiggers were: (back row) Craig Mundy, Asher Gentle, Christian Martin, Joe Boyer, Jemery Day, James Glazer, Stan Robert, Mamoru Matsuki; (front row) Shavawn Donoghue, Alice Hill, Ingrid Buchner (with a future Tigger), Sam Howard, Tom Caldwell: (missing) Dave Cooke, Dan Wilson.
Asher took a series of photographs, mostly in the game against Newcastle at Nationals 2003. As there are over 1MB of photos, thumbnails of some of these photos (with links to each photo) can be found in separate photo albums at the tas-ultimate egroups photo album. You probably won't be able to view these unless you are a tas-ultimate yahoogroups member and you have to registered to use the tas-ultimate yahoogroups page. If you do register a yahoo ID and password, which is pretty easy, free and fairly painless to do, this lets you access all sorts of useful stuff related to the tas-ultimate yahoogroup.
If the link above doesn't work, you can try looking at all the tas-ultimate egroups photo albums.

This tail was awarded for layout D's. The final winner of the tail was James Glazer. Nice to have you playing with us James!
