In April 2002, Choice Cuts went to Melbourne to play on the Open Division of the Australian Ultimate Championships. This was the first Tasmanian Ultimate team to play Nationals north of Bass Strait, and the first Tasmanian team at Nationals for over a decade. In addition four Tasmanian women played with Vacant Air in the Women's Division. Both teams won the Spirit of the Game prize in their respective divisions, with Choice Cuts finishing in 14th place and Vacant Air in 10th position.
Early morning training sessions were held at Sandown Park.

This article appeared in the Hobart Mercury on Wednesday
April 24, 2002, just before Nationals.

Two prominent players from Vacant Air and Choice Cuts at the Op Shop ball. One of them was from the group which "won the party". Hmmm, wonder which one? Thanks to Sigi for the photo.
