Minutes of the TUA Committee Meeting 16th March 2006, Shipwright’s Arms Hotel, Battery Point Meeting open: 5:44pm Present: Jem, Jeff, Warwick (until 5:45), Kerryn (until 5:54), Aaron (until 6:02), Tim J, Dave, Mike, Matt (5:53) Apologies: Ash, Shavawn Confirmation of last minutes: Mike, seconded Jem Correspondence: none Business arising from the minutes: 1. A-League - Discussion on field for A-League competition starting in May. Consensus appeared to be on one of the two University ovals. Aaron, as A-League co-ordinator, will finalise fee structure and location. 2. Youth co-ordinators report: Cheque for $150 made out to Michael Dunne for Junior Development. Mike Baker to give cheque to Michael at Monday night league. Mike also supplied receipts of Michael’s airfares to account for the maximum $150 amount. 3. Summer League Matt: booking for the uni oval and uni cricket club clubrooms for the night of league finals finalised. Matt is looking for help on the BBQ during the finals. 4. Autumn League Dave indicated that he is happy to push ahead with organising autumn league with help. Agreement was reached by those present for the autumn league to be outdoors, at the uni oval, and run for 8 weeks including 1 come & try session starting on the 1st of May. Player numbers may need to be capped with a maximum number of 4 teams permitted, and 1 game per team per night. 5. AFDA coaching Tory & Joe have expressed interest at attending an upcoming coaching course. Mike indicated that due to the elite player commitments to WUCC this year, it’s unlikely that a coaching course will be held this year. 6. Women’s development Ash has set up a women’s development email list. 7. Southern Regional Championships 2006 Mike to submit a report to the TUA, however the Tassie Tiggers finished 6th at Regionals, and have qualified for the upcoming National Championships in Sydney. 8. Tas Uni Report Mike & Dave: the uni club had 35 sign-ups at their O-week stall, including existing members. A number of new sign-ups have played ultimate before, so it is hoped that they will become regular participants at pickup and league. 9. AFDA report Jem: AFDA have raised fees for future league & tournament play. New fee structure can be viewed on the AFDA website. 10. Two-Hat VIII planning Matt has cautiously indicated that he would be interested in taking over the TD duties from Jem, with support. Tournament date was agreed on the 14/10/06, with the location most likely to be North Hobart Oval again. # Financial report including expenditure to approve: No report tabled.
