Minutes of the TUA Committee Meeting 23rd February 2006, Shipwright’s Arms Hotel, Battery Point Meeting open: 5:25pm Present: Jem, Jeff, Joe, Mike, Aaron (5:27 until 6:30), Tory (5:37), Tim P (5:37 until 7:00), Matt S (5:37), Dave (6:15 until 7:15) Apologies: Ash Confirmation of last minutes: Mike, seconded Joe Correspondence: none Business arising from the minutes: 1. Tassie Tiggers Mike: due to influx of new players, we will need to purchase new shirts. TUA approves cheque for $670 to Mike Baker representing a loan to the Tiggers for the purchase of 15 new shirts. Money to be repaid as shirts are sold. 2. League rules review: Discussion on the pros and cons of the “dropping the pull” rule in league play. Consensus could not be reached by those present so vote was taken: Allow dropped pull (2), disallow dropped pull (6). Motion passed with dropping the pull now no longer allowed in league play. 2. TUC Significant discussion by those present on the format and name of both TUC and Monday night league. Changes summarized below: Naming TUC is now called “A-League” Monday night league is now called the “Social ‘B’ League” Rule changes to A-League 1. Game starts at 3:50pm (4pm start) and runs until 5:30pm (90 mins) 2. hard-cap @ time-cap, finish the point 3. Competition points are now 3 (win), 2 (draw), 1 (loss), 0 (forfeit) 4. Newsletter to be distributed by Aaron (through Joe) 5. Spirit scores to be incorporated into competition 6. Competition to re-commence in May and run until December. 7. Fields (Rugby field) to be booked – paid by either flat fee to players or by donation on the day (to be decided). 3. Youth co-ordinators report Joe: aim to run a school league during term 3 Proposal by Dave & Mike for TUA to fund another youth development position for Regionals/Nationals: TUA passes motion to fund Michael Dunne up to $150 for airfares to attend southern regionals in Melbourne in March. 4. Summer League report (Matt) Mike to ask Ash for report on women’s meeting at league last Monday. Matt: UTas cricket clubrooms booked as venue for post-summer league finals BBQ. Joe to purchase drinks for BBQ. Pickups no longer to be allowed at summer league without the expressed permission of the opposing captain. 5. Workers/Uni challenge game Next game to be held at uni oval next Friday (3rd March) at 5:30pm. 6. WUCC 2006 TUA decides not to financially support players travelling to WUCC in Perth, but rather to support junior development. 7. Autumn League Long discussion on the possible locations and format of Autumn/Winter leagues. No consensus reached other than to have single league over autumn-winter. Discussion to continue at next meeting. 8. One-day tournament Proposal made for one-day tournament to act as a fundraiser for Ash Button to attend the World Junior Ultimate Championships. Tournament to possibly be held in mid-May. Final decision on tournament to be made after team selection at Australian Junior Ultimate Championships in early April. 9.
