TUA Minutes, 25th August, 2005 Present: Shavawn, Tim, Joe, Jemery Apologies: Cookie, Mike, Stew Acceptance of previous minutes: Shavawn, seconded by Joe Corrspondance: A letter from Launceston City Council regarding doing something for their Kite Festival. This was discussed, and dismissed, since the date is the same as Mixed Nats. Treasurer's report - Shavawn is leaving for a month, leaving Jem with the chequebook. She will get the books ready for audit soon. AFDA Conference: (As proceedings of the conference will be released, only specific comments relevant to Tasmania are minuted here. At the conference each rep summarised the current situation in their state, giving their best things and worst things. Tassie's best things were state development, 6 teams in the league, and the government grant. Worst thing was women's development. Andrew + Bart are doing the national rego database, and there was much detail given. All that's relevent to Tasmania is that we should be able to tie our own database in easily. AFDA Finances: $20,000 in the bank, expecting $62,000 in due fees, of which $20,000 is overdue from 2004. AFDA now has a paid debt collector though, who will be chasing up these fees. Insurance: We have public liability insurance through the national body, but no injury insurance anymore. Jem will make sure this is clear in the online registration form. Volunteering - There was a big part of the conference devoted to Volunteering, and Matt Bovink (QLD) had a lot to say on the matter. Lots of suggestions and useful stuff, so be sure to check out the proceedings when they are released. AFDA fees may go up next year. Communication - At the conference, everyone had a bit of a whinge about the lack of communication from the board to the state level. The board promised they'd try to do better. Youth Development - Youth Nats was successful, with 8 teams participating. Many states reported successful youth development, so we need to make sure we get active about this. Get a bag for youth training, have a specific Youth Training timeslot, www.playbytherules.net.au Womens: There will be two tiers at NUFL Coaching: There was a fair bit of flak given over the southern coaching course, in that the participants weren't informed of the demands made of them in advance. It was decided that due to the way things were run, the TUA would send Joe to the Sydney course, not Melbourne. That's all from the AFDA conference. Local matters; Expenditure to approve: none, but Joe needs to find out the definite cost of two shade tents from K&D Next Meeting: 29th September, 2005, Shippies 5pm Meeting Closed.
