Minutes of the TUA Meeting, 13 May 2004 Shipwright Arms Public House, Battery Point Present: Jeff, Shavawn, Asher, Jemery, Mike, Joe, Felix Apologies: Dave, Cari, Stew Last Minutes: accepted Correspondence: 1. Key deposit returned from HCC (Sandown) Business from last minutes: Auditor has offered to do financial audit without charge. 1. Summer League - Asher: made approx. $150 profit; no major problems 2. Autumn League - Jeff: will now move to 4 team league from next week. - Approx. $690 collected + $185 still to be received in league fees - Payments: $600 court hire + approx. $130 AFDA fees - Beginners: going okay, more experienced players need to keep an eye on making sure they get a fair go. 3. Tassie Discs - Designs looked at, sub-committee formed to make final decision on design + number (Jem, Shavawn & Joe) - Aim to have discs in time for Two-Hat/Mixed Nationals (October) 4. Women's Development - Shavawn: Possibility of running day of 'general drills' for women sometime in August. TUA to possibly support. 5. Tas Uni Report - meeting held earlier this week - Looking into having a 'lunchtime' indoor league at uni during Semester 2. Monday 12-1pm appear to be only available time. - Club funding for this year going into field hire for lunchtime pick-up games. 6. CSIRO-Uni Challenge - next game soon? Waiting on Uni team to challenge. 7. TUC - Jeff/Felix: 1st game this weekend - Change of rules: forfeit cap to now be 5 minutes after game starts, instead of 15 minutes. - Frequency of games: game every 4 or 2 weeks? Canvas opinions on Sunday 8. Tassie Tiggers - Mike: team played well, finishing 13th out of 21 teams after originally being seeded 12th. - Shavawn: "I won!!" 9. Coaching development plan - Mike: AFDA planning to submit a National Coaching Development Plan. As part of this, each state must put together a State Coaching Development Plan to be submitted to the National Coaching Co-ordinator (Piers Truter) by the 1st June. - Mike to be coaching co-ordinator for Tasmania, and to write State Coaching Development Plan. - Tasmanian contribution to national coaching development to be minimal, due to size of player base. - First coaching course to be held in Sydney in November (possibility for one also in Melbourne). Mike to attend unless anyone else wants to. - Jem moves motion to provide up to $300 from TUA for Mike to attend coaching course, seconded: Shavawn, motion passed. 10. AFDA business - Shavawn: new President and Secretary on AFDA board - new anti-doping policy - Mixed Nationals venue still to be decided upon 11. Adult Education Course - No-one has available time to run course - Not enough interest to go ahead with 12. Financial Report - TUA financial report, moved: Shavawn, seconded: Joe. - Summer League financial report, moved: Shavawn, seconded: Asher. - approx. $3000 in TUA account - $1000 grant from the AFDA to go towards Tassie discs - annual reports to be published on TUA website - up to $300 approved for Mike to attend coaching course - up to $3000 approved for Shavawn to purchase discs - $156.15 to Asher for Summer League - $42 to Jeff for brochure stickers - received $150 key deposit from HCC (Sandown) 13. Winter Indoor League - Jeff to run since no-one else wants to 14. Two-Hat VI - Jem to run - anyone welcome to provide design for tournament 15. Mixed Nationals - Last week of October? (3 day tournament) - Shavawn confident Tasmania can field a team 16.
