Minutes of the TUA Meeting, 7 August 2003 Shipwright Arms Public House, Battery Point Present: Jemery, Jeff, Shavawn, Madeleine, Craig, Mamoru, Mike, Louise arrived late (18:10) and left early (18:11) Apologies: Dave C Minutes of the previous meeting confirmed: Jemery Correspondence: Letter from HCC asking for key to toilet block at Sandown fields. Jeff has returned key. Business Arising: 1. Autumn League: Account statement still forthcoming - Cari to finalise. Shavawn requests receipt books. 2. Winter League: Income $582. Anticipated Court Fees: $600. Joe has recruited at least 6 enthusiastic players. Median spirit score is very high - 9. Not enough variability. Shavawn to process new AFDA members. 3. Spring League: Dates to be Oct 20 - Dec 8 (Mondays). Summer League dates Jan 19 - Mar 22 (to end by end of Daylight Savings). Craig suggests 5-a-side in Spring (ie 7-8 players/team). More chance of a successful league and less likely for weaker players to be looked-off. Jeff accepts as preferred option but will be dependent on numbers. 4. Advertising/Coaching & Development: Dates for "Come and Try it" are Monday, 6 Oct and 13 Oct. A BBQ or some other simple social activity afterwards would be good if there are any volunteers to organise. Joe will try to get "Come and Try it" add in the Wotz on in the Mercury. Jemery will look at some promo for the Two Hat/"Come and Try It" two weeks before the Hat. Joe will work on a Poster to put up all over the place. 5. Spirit Scores: As mentioned above, get very high spirit scores with little variability. Need to impress that 5 is average, 7 is a good game. Keeping spirit scores secret this time - makes people happier but will give generalised spirit update half-way through comp. 6. Mixed Nationals: Shavawn thinks we have a team and is would like people who want to play to make a $70 deposit. Might have to select as there are 7 definite/possible women and 10 definite/possible men. Shavawn and Mike will be selectors with another to be decided on. 7. Two Hat: Party - Mike offered to help - still hope to get Frank to help on this as well. Stan might do lunches. New-Leslie to be asked about a design for the t-shirts. 8. Government funding: No one prepared to put in the time this year. 9. Women's Development: No change, will make sure we have experienced women coming along to the "Come and Try It' session. 10. Uni Report: 30 discs for sale. Cookie still putting ad in the Bull. Uni team getting a lot of people turning up for the uni-csiro challenge. This is a good thing but selection becomes an issue. 11.Tassie Disc - no designs - but Jeff has an idea. 12. Nationals eligibility: no news. 13. TUC report. Planet Red down on numbers. 14.
