Announcing the Australian U23 TeamOn behalf of the AFDA, the Open Selectors would like to announce the Australian U23 Open team who will compete at the 2010 U23 World Ultimate Championships in Florence Italy in July. We would like to thank all of the people who have been involved in this process and have contributed greatly to the future success of the team: from the volunteers at the selection camps, through to the athletes who tried out for the team. The 2010 U23 Open Team is:
Reserve We have every confidence the team will represent Australia at the highest level with commitment and spirit. The team shows the strength of the U19 program as 16 of the players selected have previously represented Australia at that level. We are already now almost halfway through the campaign with the tournament only being announced in January. The team is now separating into their club teams for the nationals season with specific fitness and conditioning work to be done for the U23 team. After competing at Nationals, the athletes will have three training camps in the lead up to the tournament. Almost all the athletes selected are also competing at the World Ultimate Club Championships in Prague only two weeks before the U23 tournament, which means the next 4 months for these athletes will be quite full on with training for their nationals team, their WUCC team and the U23 team. The U23 team will be meeting in Italy a week before the tournament and will have some solid recovery sessions before having a couple of warm-up games against some high quality opposition. The team will be choosing a name for this team going forward and that will be announced on the AFDA once it has been decided. The World Championships will run July 19-25.
