Member Benefits

Membership of the AFDA comes with many attractive benefits.

Insurance

As a member of the AFDA, you are covered by our insurance wherever you play or organise ultimate throughout Australia.

Public Liability insurance covers you for accidents that might happen to third parties because of your actions as an administrator or player. To organise any sort of tournament or competition you will need Public Liability insurance to even hire fields. All affiliated associations and their members are covered by our insurance.

In addition, the AFDA runs a Member Compassionate Fund (MCF) which sets aside money to contribute to the cost of injury to members. While not an insurance scheme, it aims to provide a similar level of benefits as a commercially available scheme.

Magazine

The AFDA Newsletter, Australian Ultimate is an annual magazine which is packed with stories about ultimate from around Australia and the world. It is an important source of information as a player, letting you know when tournaments are and the latest policy decisions of the AFDA. There is also a chance to see your name in print or a photo of yourself in action on the ultimate field. The current circulation of the AFDA Magazine is around 2000 people across Australia.

The Magazine binds us as a community.

Website

The AFDA website is a central repository for information about ultimate in Australia. It is provided as a service to members. We believe and endeavour to ensure that it is the best and most useful ultimate site in the world.

Development

Behind the scenes the AFDA works tirelessly to make ultimate in Australia the best it can be. Some of your subscription money goes to running the association and allowing it to perform its fundamental functions of

  • coaching accreditation
  • selecting national teams
  • hosting of national championships
  • sending teams to world championships
  • developing better administrative practices
  • running juniors programs
  • broadening university ultimate
  • developing rules
  • safeguarding the spirit of the game

and generally ensuring that Ultimate remains as the sport that we have all come to love.
